Welcome to the Great Dane Care website & thank you for your interest. We have many beautiful dogs needing to be re-homed who are waiting for new owners to come along and love them.

What We Do...

In essence, our name says it all.

We dedicate our time and effort to rescuing & re-homing Great Dane Dogs. We also are available to give advice on the breed. We've been running as a registered charity since 2000 but have been doing this since the early 90's and have no intention of giving it up..! Not just yet anyway!!

In 2011 we successfully re-homed 62 dogs from the re-homing centre. During 2008 we updated our policy so that all adult dogs are now neutered, wherever possible, before being re-homed and all potential new owners are vetted to include regular home visits.

In Loving Memory - Judy Smith
It was with deep regret that we learnt of the passing of Judy Smith in November last year. The officers and committee sent our condolences to her husband Frank. Both of them have been supportive of Great Dane Care since it started and regularly asked about the Great Danes in our care as well as giving donations, offering advice and encouragement to people thinking of taking on a Great Dane and carrying out home checks.
Judy has judged at our Companion Dog Show, being a favourite with the young handlers who appreciated her good advice. Her cheery smile and enthusiastic tips on all dog life along with the infectious laugh will never be forgotten.
We are heavily indebted to all the people who donated so generously to our charity and the Marie Curie nurses instead of buying flowers for Judy’s funeral. The final amount was in excess of £800 which clearly demonstrates how highly she was thought of and respected within the breed and by her many friends and neighbours.
Great Dane Care will ensure that every penny of this money will be used to improve the lives of the dogs that come in to be re-homed.
